Carole B. Garner, 82, of Marshfield, died Fri., Jan. 2, 2009, at the Golden Living Center at Three Oaks in Marshfield. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tues., Jan. 6, 2009, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield. Private family burial of ashes will be at a later date. In following Carole's wishes, there will be no service.
Carole Buella Howard was born March 6, 1926, in Hinsdale, Ill., a daughter of Norris A. and Ethel M. (Fillner) Howard. At a young age, Carole moved to the central Wisconsin area. She attended high school and graduated from Bethel Academy in 1944. In April of 1946 at Bethel, the former Carole Howard was united in marriage to Charles Garner. The couple later divorced.
Mrs. Garner was employed as a hostess for the Innkeeper and Hotel Mead. She was also employed at Saint Joseph's Hospital and at the Marshfield Weyerhaeuser Plant. Carole was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Marshfield. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, her flower garden, but her greatest love was spending time with her family and her many grandchildren.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Merlin (Candace) Garner, Arpin, Sheila (Mickey) Fischer, Auburndale and Brenda (Delbert) Reid, Marshfield. Carole is further survived by eight grandchildren, Danny (Nola) Garner, Merrill, Stacey (Jed) Stump, Wadena, Minn., David (LeAnne) Garner, Boulder Junction, Brandy (Bagio Pawluczuk) Benyo, Buffalo Grove, Ill., Jamie (Isaias Santiago-Hernandez) Garner, Auburndale, James Fischer, Rudolph, Timothy (Dana) Fischer, Chili and Melissa Reid, Marshfield; 14 great-grandchildren, Lee, Ronnie, Jada, Alexandra, Tyler, Devyn, Skye, Myah, Natalia, Mariela, Tamara, Thomas, Austin and Corbyn; one brother and numerous relatives and friends. One son, Gregory in 2002, her parents and one brother, Bertis in his youth, preceded Mrs. Garner in death.
