Reuben W. Stephenson (son of William B. Stephenson and Elizabeth Woollums) was born July 24, 1814 in Kentucky, and died June 18, 1905 in Lewis County, Missouri. He worked as a carpenter in Cincinnati, Ohio and Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky. He married (1) Melvina McClure on December 21, 1843 in Grant County, Kentucky. They made their home in Grant County, Kentucky, where he built a home and shop near Crittenden, Kentucky. He also operated a saw mill and made wagons, plows and farm tools. After his first wife left him he and his son William moved to Missouri in 1854 to start a new life. He married (2) Elizabeth Givens Bowen , a widow, on May 9, 1854 in Lewis County, Missouri. She died December 7, 1900 in Missouri. In his old age he wrote a family history of this Stephenson family which has proven to be most useful to those doing family history research through the years.
