Mathias Schwarz, son of Johann Schwarz and Barbara Hanauska, was born on 07 Jun 1861 in Abtsdorf, Leitomischl, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary (which is now Opatov, Svitavy, East Bohemia, Czechia) in House #85 , and was baptized the next day (photo attachment).

His straight paternal line grandfather, great-grandfather and 2-great-grandfather were all named Mathias Schwarz as well.

He married Theresia Schmid, daughter of Wenzel Schmid and Anna Kramer, on 24 Nov 1885 in Abtsdorf House #85, and they settled in Abtsdorf House #189 (photo attachment) and there had 3 sons and 1 daughter from 1887-1891. Their family, including their eldest son Julius who survived and their daughter Mary and widow Anna Schmid, the surviving mother of Theresia, immigrated to the USA; arriving on the Norddeutscher Lloyd steamship Aller in New York on 14 Jun 1892, and settled in Albany, Stearns, Minnesota where they were registered members of Seven Dolors parish (photo attachment) and changed their surname spelling to Schwartz.

Theresia (Schmid) Schwartz died at St. Raphael Hospital in St. Cloud, Stearns, Minnesota on 03 Oct 1915 and after relocating to Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, Mathias Schwartz died there on 22 Jul 1947 (photo attachment).
