Andrew Bakalar, 60, of 706 E. Elm St., died Sunday at 8:40 a.m. in St. Mary's Hospital where he had been a patient the past three weeks.


Son of George and Mary (Novak) Bakalar, he was born November 16, 1911 in this city. He married Marie Bosse on November 26, 1936 in Trinity Lutheran Church.


She survives with three children: Diane (Daniel) Hyduk of Streator; James of Joliet; and Terry of Lockport; three grandchildren; his mother of Streator; three sisters: Anna, Theresa and Irene Bakalar, all of Streator; and a brother: George of Streator.


Preceding him in death were his father, a brother, and a sister.


A resident of Streator all of his lifetime, he worked for Paris Garter Company for 41 years, three years for Morris Foundation, and 27 years for Duis Appliance as a sewing machine repairman.


He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
