Zullinger, Pa — M. LaVerne Barnett, age 85, of Zullinger, Pa., passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Hagerstown, Md. She was born March 21, 1926, in Taylor Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George N. and Nora E. Barnett. She lived her early life in Fulton County. LaVerne never married.
Ms. Barnett graduated from the Hustontown High School in 1944. She worked at Letterkenny Army Depot as a checker, at Angle's Grocery Store in New Franklin, Pa., at Landis Tool Co. as a timekeeper, at Waynesboro Manufacturing (Morris Contract), at Hamilton Luggage and at Waynesboro Day Care.
She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, Pa.
She especially enjoyed local baseball games, Penn State football and children of all temperaments.
LaVerne is survived by one sister, Grace W. Shotts of Waterfall, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother and two sisters, Kenneth C. Barnett, Muriel C. Henry and Lois M. Angle.
A graveside service will be held at Hustontown Cemetery in Hustontown, Pa., Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at 1 p.m. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc. will be handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.kelso-corneliusfuneralhome
