Philip Mock was the fifth of six known children of George Mock (1793-1827) and Amanda (went by Amelia?) Mirer/Myer (1797-1865), who married 12 Nov 1815 in North Carolina. After George died Amanda remarried to Henry Charles.

Philip married Mary (went by Polly) Newsom (1820-1902) on 30 Aug 1845 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Philip and Polly were the parents of nine known children, namely:

1. Martha Jane Mock (1846-1906)
2. George F. Henry Mock (1847-1925)
3. Amelia Catherine Mock Nading (1849-1907)
4. Jacob Henry Mock (1850-1929)
5. John Carter Mock (1853-1924)
6. May Ellen Mock Doub (1855-1924)
7. Phillip "Fip" Turner Mock (1857-1935)
8. Lenora Ann Mock Shore (1858-1939)
9. Sarah (Sallie) Newsom Mock Mickle (1861-1940)
