Stage and vaudeville actor, Tyrrell began his career at 16 years of age and spent the next ten years in vaudeville. In 1936 Tyrrell signed a contract with Columbia Pictures and remained there until his death. He played in several supporting roles, serials and horror films. Tyrrell was married to stage actress Grette Ardine. Tyrrell appeared in 235 films.
