George Westmoreland was born 9 Sep 1808 in North Carolina to Alexander Westmoreland and his wife Nancy Thomason. In 1850, he was living with his wife (married in 1838) Sallie Dodson (1810-1890)and his family in Alabama. His father died and the family moved to Panola county Texas where his brother Joseph had already settled. Sallie and George lived on a farm near DeBerry in Panola county, Texas. He died in 1891 and thus far no gravesite has been identified.
