Gabriel Scott Corbett died following a tragic and senseless accident (a wall fell on him)on October 26, 2011, our beloved brother, son and friend left this world the way he came infar too early.

Gabriel lived in many places and attended many schools during his short life, including ISU Vet Med pre-school, Sawyer Elementary, and Kate Mitchell Elementary, all in Ames, IA. He also lived in and attended school in Stuart and Gilbert, IA. Immediately prior to moving to Williamston, he lived in and attended school in Clewiston, FL. Gabriel was most recently a freshman at Williamston High School. He had been a student in Williamston since the last half of third grade.

He was a good student, first-time football player, an avid gamer, a shooting enthusiast, a music devotee, and he loved the outdoors, but only if it wasn't too cold or too hot. He enjoyed feeding and watching birds, and spending time with his critters, (including over the years a turtle, a tomato frog, rats, a corn-snake, a bearded dragon, two ferrets, African clawed frogs, multitudes of fish and many cats and dogs). Gabriel had a curiosity for life that didn't just stop at why. He constantly questioned things, was regularly challenging people to think outside the box and was always ready to know more.

Gabriel was a pyromaniac, along with his father and brother, and lived for giant bon-fires and fireworks, especially at his dads.

Ask the class of 2015 where his other tennis shoe is! When Gabriel wasn't with his friends, he was texting them. Sometimes he was with them and texting them Gabriel treasured his relationships with his friends. He was generous with a hug or a smile, compassionate, and once a friend, always a friend. His carefree attitude, laid-back manner and brilliant smile defined who Gabriel was. Even in pre-school when he would walk in, all the little girls would scream "Gabriel's here!" and he would bound into the room with a gigantic smile and giggle.

Gabriel had a remarkable sense of humor He had a quick wit and as his dad would say, would happily "regale you with an amusing anecdote". Just the sound of Gabriel's laughter could set off an hour long giggle-fest for anyone near-by. Gabriel admired, respected and deeply loved his brother. He repeatedly said Michael was the smartest person he knew. He loved to hear Michael's frequent diatribes on any number of subjects and shared his inquisitiveness and intellect. Gabriel and Michael were friends as well as brothers and could often be found in one or the others room sharing cheats for a new video game or perusing the internet for new and bizarre information and videos.

He was the most beautiful and brilliant son any parent could want. He never gave his mom a minute's trouble (with the exception of arriving five weeks early and trying hard to survive). His kindness was evident in the little everyday things he would do. Even though he thought he was too old, he would never deny his mom a "smooch" or an "I love you".

Gabriel loved and adored his dad, and was devastated by his loss. Gabriel was a good boy and an even more incredible young man. He was the son every parent dreamed of In a paper he wrote, Gabriel said, "Goals are not relevant for me; I don't really think past today in terms of plans and actions. I don't like dwelling on the past or longing for the future. Living in the moment is the way to live in my opinion. No matter what happens to me- my family, it doesn't stop us. It'll take nothing short of a few more hurricanes to do that." So it matters not the quantity of life, but the quality with which you live it. Gabriel lived life and he loved it all but homework

Gabriel survived much change and loss in his life and despite all of this, became an amazing human being. Seventeen moves, seven schools, numerous life events, including losing his home to Hurricane Wilma, and the sudden death of his father, made him who he was.

Honor Gabriel's amazing spirit by not looking back, and embracing life with everything you have Gabriel is survived by his mother, Sherry (Linnan) Corbett, his older brother, Michael, his Aunt, Michelle Linnan, all of Williamston, his grandmother, Karen (Navoichick) Linnan (formerly of Algona and Ames, IA.), currently residing in Haslett, MI., members of the Corbett family and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, J. Scott Corbett of Ogden, IA., his paternal grandmother, F. Irene Corbett of Ames, IA., his maternal great- grandmother Lucile and great-grandfather William Navoichick of Algona, IA., and his maternal great uncle, Mike Navoichick, also of Algona, IA.

Gabriel will be cremated at his request, and his friends will host a memorial service for him. I Believe I believe in a better tomorrow I believe in what we say I don't, and never will, believe that the war is justified. I believe in evolution I believe in braces I believe in Daniel Tosh I believe in James Cameron and his movies I believe in DirecTV I will always believe in my friends I believe the world will end. Maybe not in 2012, but it will end. I believe in all of my music And finally, I believe in long nights of 12 packs of Mountain Dew and hard core gaming Written by Gabriel Corbett, 2011

The family is being served by the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes.
