He was born and raised in Philadelphia and lived in Pleasantville before moving to Levittown six years ago.
He worked as a carpenter for the FAA Technical Center in Egg Harbor Township until retiring in 1960. He served with the Pennsylvania National Guard during World War I.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (Kerr); four sons, Pete, Chester Jr., William, and Joseph; five daughters, Mildred Van Horn, Florence String, Ruth Briel, Martha Lynch and Miriam McCann; a brother, Harold; 39 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Beck-O'Neill-Strouse Golden Rule Funeral Home, 7400 New Falls Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia.
