God our Father has taken Julia Gross, our loving mother to her final resting place. Julia Gross, 98, Bismarck, died Oct. 24, 2011, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Julia was born Jan. 30, 1913, near Zeeland, the daughter of John and Julia (Geffre) Schumacher. Julia married Simon "Sam" Marquart on Oct. 19, 1937. Sam died on Dec. 29, 1960. She married George Gross on Nov. 20, 1971. George died on Dec. 27, 2003.

Julia enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, reading and crocheting.

She is survived by her daughters, Eileen Krumm and Phyllis (Joe) Silbernagel, all of Bismarck; her son, Anton (Brenda) Marquart, West Fargo; 32 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, James; her daughter, Rosella Engelhart; her parents; her first husband, Sam Marquart; her second husband, George Gross; one grandson, Mark Nolz; one great-grandson, Benedict Bosch Jr.; four brothers; and five sisters.
