Walker C. "Bill" Dorsett, Jr., a prominent orthodontist, has passed away on November 2, 2005.

He was born in Bisby, Arizona on October 31, 1920. He practiced orthodontic dentistry for forty-eight years in Arcadia as his father did before him in Whittier. His grandfather Bevan Johnson was one of the founders of Whittier College.

He lived most of his early life in Whittier before opening his orthodontic office in Arcadia. He graduated from West Whittier High School and attended Whittier College for two years for pre med, graduating from the University of Southern California dental school before going in the U.S. Armed forces, serving in the Phillipines during WWII.

After serving his tour of duty, he attended the University of Michigan and became an American Board certified Orthodontist in 1966. He became a member of the Rotary Club in 1949. He received many Rotarian awards including the Michler and Scott Awards.

He was a member of the National Angle Society Board for fourteen years from 1968-1982 and was president of that society in 1963. That same year he was asked to be president of the Rotary Club. He was also a long time member of the YMCA board.

In 1950, he met his beloved wife, Billy Anne Dorsett, and were married for fifty-five wonderful years. They each had a son from previous marriages, Ronald Walker Dorsett and Kendall Long Dorsett. Their grandchildren are Christopher Dorsett, Jennifer Dorsett, and Crystal Delaware. They also have four beloved foster children, Jeffrey Shirkani, Terry Fahami, Nay Farsadi, and Manijeh Brueggeman.

Bill was an avid sportsman loving skiing, and golf (he had a hole in one) well into his 80's Also he liked fishing and bowled for many years, bowling a 300 game and a 600 series. He played bridge and was an avid gardener. According to his wife and anyone lucky enough to watch, he was a great ballroom dancer.

Memorial services will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 in the Sky Rose Chapel at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
