"Minister at Terrells Bay Baptist - later Centenary Baptist, and organizer of Gapway Baptist Church, is believed to be buried east of Gapway at end of dirt road running through Gapway Cemetery." page 368, 101 Cemeteries in Marion County, South Carolina

"He was married twice - first, to Mary Palmer, by whom he had David, Nancy, Martha and Elizabeth; and his second wife was the Widow Martha Williamson, nee Jenkins, and by her he had one son Solomon." - Sellers History of Marion County.

"In 1790 Rev. David purchased a 750 acre plantation at Gapway. The deed to this land is in private hands, all public record having been lost. The text is given in Appendix 8. Around this same time, he sold most of his lands at Terrell's Bay and moved to Gapway, a distance of about 11 miles." - Excerpt from page 14, "Descendants of the Rev. David Owens" by Daniel K. Owens, published by the Pee Dee Chapter, South Carolina Genealogical Society, 2nd Edition, 1993.

"Rev. David is probably buried in the Owens Cemetery in the woods at the end of the dirt road running in front of Gapway Church. The cemetery has gone to ruin. The only gravestone there is that of Edward Lide Owens. That stone and many depressions in the ground are all that is left to mark the resting place of our ancestors." - Excerpt from page 14, "Descendants of the Rev. David Owens" by Daniel K. Owens, published by the Pee Dee Chapter, South Carolina Genealogical Society, 2nd Edition, 1993.

Note:
David's will names his wife as Ruth and his children as "Eldest daughter Ann Phillips, eldest son William Owens, second daughter Rebeckah Dawsey, third daughter Martha Williamson, fourth daughter Elizabeth Edwards, second and youngest son Solomon Owens".
