WALTER BRADLEY CUSHING was born in Paris, N. Y., 23 June 1796. He married 24 Feb. 1820, Eloise, daughter of Amasa Ransom, of Buffalo, N.Y. She was born 28 Nov. 1797 and died in Brookfield, Wis, 28 March 1888. He died in Brookfield, 6 Oct. 1856. Both were interred in Wauwatosa, Wis. Mr. Cushing’s early life was spent in Fredonia, N.Y., where he learned the hardships of early settlers in a new country. He was educated in Fredonia Academy, and for some years followed the mercantile business. In May, 1840, he moved to Delafield, Wis.; thence, 20 April 1842, he removed to Brookfield, Waukesha Co, Wis., where he spent the last years of his life. He was a man of sterling qualities, and in advance of many of the Wisconsin settlers in business ability and strong convictions of right.

According to North America, Family Histories, Ransom Family, page 178, there were three other children born to Walter & Eloise in Fredonia:

James, b. May 18, 1827; d. June 9, 1827
