Born 1798 in Paris, NY, the 3rd child of Zattu and Rachel (Buckingham) Cushing. First marriage to Daniel Stearns Houghton (1788–1825), the son of Simon and Martha (Stearns) Houghton. Married May 16, 1813, and had 4 children:
Lawrence Stearns Houghton (1815-1865)
Martha Rachel Houghton Wheeler (1816-1908)
DeWitt Houghton (1818-1820)
Henrietta Elizabeth Houghton Risley (1821-1897)

After Daniel Houghton died in 1825, Lydia married Dr Squire White (1785-1857) in Fredonia, NY, in 1826, and had 3 children:
Ellen Douglas White Quittin (1827–1887)
George Hinckley White (1829–1906)
Mary Sturgis White (1832–1841)

Gravesite Details

Monument for Dr. Squire White is in Fredonia's Pioneer Cemetery (Plot 1273A). Lydia's name is included as a cenotaph. Plot map shows actual burial in plot D/11 of Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia.
