Mrs. Lucinda Kessler, Bair, Succumbs At 97
Bair - Mrs. Lucinda Kessler, 97, widow of Franklin Kessler, formerly of the Hanover area, died yesterday at 3:20 p.m. at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin G. Dubs, with whom she resided.
Mrs. Kessler, a native of York County and a daughter of the late Jacob and Harriet Sterner Shearer, was the oldest member of the Lutheran congregation of St. Paul's (Dub's) Union Church, having been a member 85 years.
Since moving to Bair several years ago she attended Faith Community Church. Her husband died Feb. 27, 1926.
Surviving are: Five children, Mrs. Alvin G. Dubs, with whom she resided; Mrs. Maggie Warner, Mt. Pleasant, Hanover RD; Mrs. William Lightner, Spring Grove RD 3; Mrs. Ernest Sterner, Jefferson, and Luther Kessler, Hanover; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren and a brother, Charles Shearer, Jefferson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Wetzel Funeral Home, Hanover. Rev. Russell T. Shilling, pastor of West Manheim Lutheran charge, will officiate, assisted by Rev. A. Morgan Jenkins, Faith Community Church. Interment will be in St. Paul's (Dub's) Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow evening.
