Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home for William H. Potter, 83, an auto mechanic for many years, and retired employee of the Bijur Lubricating Corp., who died Saturday evening at Putnam Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
The Rev. Floyd I. LaBombard, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate, and offer committal prayers at the family plot in the Bennington Village Cemetery.
A native of Wells, and resident of Barney Road for many years, Mr. Potter was born Jan 18, 1892 to Harry and Bertha (Warner) Potter, and received his education in the Bennington schools. His wife was the former Christina Jensen, who died Sept 7, 1969.
He leaves a son, Dr. George C. Potter of Murdelein, Ill.; a daughter, Miss Jane Ann Potter of Bennington; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. William Barber and a half brother, Harold Rudd, both of Bennington, nieces, nephews and cousins. Another daughter, Mrs. Ruth Maville, died Jan 29, 1969.
Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the funeral home office.
