AVA, Harry Leon “Bo” Brown, 81, of Ava, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019, at his home in Ava, Illinois. He was born February 5, 1938 in Raddle, Illinois the son of Harry Thomas and Myrtle (Glodo) Brown. “Bo” was married to Mary Gertrude Bischdorf and she preceded him in death on March 24, 1991.

He was retired from Menard Correction Center. “Bo” served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Truth Tabernacle Church in Ava.

“Bo” was an avid fisherman. He had numerous friends and was loved by many. “Bo” was a wonderful husband to our mother and a great stepdad to us.

He is survived by 2 step daughters: Barbara Stone of Little Elm, Texas and Trudy (Paul) Thompson of Murphysboro, IL; Step son: Vernon (Stacey) Drury of Hurst, IL; 13 Step Grandchildren; step Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter; Brother: Jackie E. (Linda) Brown of Ava; Sister, Betty R. Claussen of Ava; Nephews: Jackie E. Brown, Jr, of Ava, Richard A. Brown of Ava, Ricky L. Carter of Marion, IL, Danny L. Holcomb of Sparta, IL, Clayton E. Richardson of Bryan, TX and James D. Richardson of Hearne, Texas; Nieces: Patricia K. Brown of Boone, North Carolina, Cathy L. Claussen of Ava and Debra J. Gale of Sparta, IL and numerous Great and Great Great Nieces and Nephews.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents, three stepsons, Kenneth, Mark & Jimmy Brown, five nephews, Roger Richardson, Billy Carter, Carl Richardson, Gary Carter and Larry Hawkins, one niece, Brenda K. Hood, two brothers, Bobby E. Morgan and Herbert E. Morgan and three sisters, Joann N. Richardson Cheatham, Geraldine E. Holcomb and Kathleen R. Carter Moore.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Wilson's Funeral Home Ava, with. Rev. Thomas E. Bevis officiating. Burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, on Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 7:30am to time of service. Memorials may be made to the family.
