1st Duke of Beaufort
3rd Marquess of Worcester
7th Earl of Worcester
9th Baron Herbert
Lord President of Wales
Knight of the Garter

Son of Edward Somerset, 2nd Marquess of Worcester, and Elizabeth Dormer. Paternal grandson of Henry Somerset, 1st Marquess of Worcester, and the Honourable Anne Russell. Maternal grandson of Sir William Dormer and Alice Molyneux.

Henry succeeded to his father's titles in 1667, and in 1682 was created Duke of Beaufort in recognition of his service to King Charles II after the reformation. He served as a Privy Councillor and Lord President of Wales.

The name Beaufort refers to a castle in Champagne, France, and is the only current British dukedom to take its name from a place outside the British Isles.

In 1657 he married Mary Capell, Lady Beauchamp, the daughter of the 1st Baron Capell of Hadham, and the widow of Henry Seymour, Lord Beauchamp.

Their union produced three sons and four daughters. All three sons predeceased him, but his surviving daughters were the Duchess of Ormonde, the Countess of Suffolk and the Countess of Coventry.

Henry was succeeded by his grandson Henry, the heir of Charles Somerset, Marquess of Worcester.
