Mrs. Burkholder was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Luray and was a daughter of the late Rufus D and Etta Mae Rothgeb Burner.
She was employed at the former Aileen Inc. and Life Care Center in New Market. She was a member of Manor Memorial United Methodist Church in New Market.
On Aug. 25, 1953, she married Louis Burkholder Jr., who survives.Also surviving are three children, Dudley Burkholder and Nancy Burkholder, both of New Market and William Burkholder; a brother Nelson L. Burner of Luray and a grandchild.
The Rev. Steve Proctor will conduct a graveside service 1 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in New Market. Her body was cremated.
