Deceased Name: Eva Jean "Jeanie" Denton
SULLIVAN - Eva Jean "Jeanie" Denton, 70, of Sullivan passed away 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2007 in her home. Jeanie had courageously battled breast cancer for 19-1/2 years. She was an inspiration to many as she seldom complained and always gave God the credit for her extended life.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Marrowbone Twp. Cemetery, Bethany. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Care Specialist of Central Illinois, St. John's Hospice or Sullivan Church of God.
Jeanie was born July 28, 1937 in Short Creek, KY the daughter of Henry and Bessie (Dunn) Harl, and moved with her parents to Illinois when she was about two years old. She married Floyd "Gene" Denton in Sullivan. Jeanie was a homemaker and had worked as a waitress and helped in their family operated business. She loved her family. She was a long time member of Sullivan Church of God; there she helped with Sunday school and loved to work in the nursery.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, two, half-brothers and one, half-sister.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. James Wade, Dr. Glen Dust, and all the staff at Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois, the St. John's Hospice Group, and especially to our special nurse Lynn.
