Alonzo Marion Thorne • 24 December 1852 – 6 February 1924 • M2SF-5W7

Son of Pvt. Daniel T. Thorne and Hannah Murphy Thorne.
Daniel T. Thorne was 34 when he enlisted on 11 Aug 1862 in the 112th OVI, from which he transferred to the 63rd OVI and was commissioned as the Captain of Company K on 6 Nov 1862.
He replaced Captain John McFadden who was killed at Corinth MS on 4 Oct 1862.
Capt Daniel T. Thorne was wounded and captured at Decatur GA on 22 Jul 1864, and died of those wounds as a POW on 5 Oct 1864 at Savannah GA.
He was buried at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Savannah, GA. There is a cenotaph in his memory on his family's monument at Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati OH, Memorial #39957865.
Pension file records show that Daniel married Hannah Murphy 13 January 1852 in Hamilton Co.
In 1860 Daniel and Hannah were living in Dayton, Montgomery Co with two children "Alonzo and Gilbert" [1860 c].
His widow Hannah was remarried to William Archer on 19 Dec 1867. Mr. Archer became the guardian of Daniel and Hannah's two children Alonzo Marion Thorne b. 24 Dec 1852 and Adelbert Thorne b. 8 Nov 1854. In 1870 Hannah Thorne Murphy Archer was living with William Archer and two children "Alonzo and Adelbert Thorne, ages 17 and 15". [Widows Official Pension File Certificate #118.216]
Alonzo died 6 Feb 1924 in Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan.
