He died at the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home near Sandusky and was initially buried in the Home Cemetery.

According to Spring Grove records, his remains were moved from Sandusky to this cemetery on 24 Mar 1901. They were interred here after a service at the cemetery chapel. The move was ordered by his wife, Bessie.
