Nessie Josey Goodman, 93, formerly of 1117 Fourth St., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at Genesis Health Care in Mooresville.
Mrs. Goodman was born July 4, 1912, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Dave Josey and Jenny Hobbs Josey.
She attended Iredell County Schools and retired after 40 years from Uniglass Industries.
Nessie Goodman was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred W. Dixon. She later married the late John Goodman.
Also proceeding her in death are six brothers, Coite, Clint, Ross, Glen, Jeff and Sidney Josey; and four sisters, Annabell Sharpe, Kate Benfield, Lelia Shoemaker; and Regina Little.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty Mayberry and husband, Herman, of Mooresville, and Martha Blevins and husband, Lindell, of Troutman; a son, Norman Dixon and wife, Margaret, of Cleveland, N.C.; a step-son, Gary Goodman of China Grove; three grandsons, Robert Mayberry, David Mayberry, and Steve Dixon; five granddaughters, Brenda Lee, Lynne Blevins, Terry Gantt, Barbara Land, and Kimberly Welch; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Juanita D. Bennett and Hazeleen G. Faggart.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this evening at Nicholson Funeral Home and at other times at each sibling's residence.
