Robert "Bob" Dale Austin, Sr., 65, of Thicket died at home Wednesday, October 19, 2011. He was born July 11, 1946 in Angelina County to parents Isiah "Ike" Austin and Ruth Franklin Austin. A longtime resident of Thicket he had worked for Basil Oilfield Service. He loved fishing, camping, and most of all being with his family and friends.

Services for Mr. Austin will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday evening at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Moss Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Austin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 40 years: Betty Alean Ferguson Austin and brother: Byford Harvey Austin.

He is survived by his daugthers: Lisa Nugent and husband Jerry of Hardin and Cynthia Cook and husband Danny of Moss Hill; sons: Robert Austin, Jr. and wife Amanda of Thicket, William Austin and Donna Frazier of Dayton, and Dickie Austin and wife Tina of Thicket; grandchildren: Nicole, Katelyn, Kelly, Aaron, Danny Jr., Magen, Nick, James, Amelia, and Darren; great-grandchildren: Anthony, Harley, Leeanna, Nathan, Cesar Jr.; sisters: Vernell Tilton & Jerry, Sundra Gilliam and John, Mary McRae and Dave, Joann Puck, Flora Windham and Jamie, and Lynn Sasser.

The family request in lieu of flowers memorials be made in Mr. Austin's name to the American Cancer Society.
