William suffered a heart attack in July of 1951. He was hospitalized at Alton Memorial Hospital for 10 days. He was released from the hospital on 01 Aug 1951 and was moved to Watson Nursing Home in Jerseyville, Illinois at that time.
At the time of his death, he was 75 years, 6 months and 14 days old. He was survived by his wife, Ophelia, of Kampsville, Illinois; 1 son, Roscoe Plummer; 1 grandchild; 1 great-grandchild; 2 sisters, Edith Fowler of Alton, Illinois, and Lulu Dixon of Batchtown, Illinois; and 2 brothers, Charles Plummer of Hardin, Illinois, and Cleve Plummer of Grafton, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was held at Gubser Funeral Home on 21 Sep 1951. Funeral services were conducted there at 2 p.m. on the afternoon of 23 Sep 1951 by the pastor of the Jerseyville Baptist Church.
William's brother, Charles, died in 1961 and was buried next to him.
