The Rev. William E. Whitman, 73, of 3115 Derry St., Paxtang, died Friday in Community General Osteopathic Hospital. He was a retired minister and a retired steelworker for Bethlehem Steel Corp., Steelton; did visitation work at the Susquehanna Nursing Home; and attended Brookfield Bible Church. Surviving are his wife, Shirley L. Whitman; two sons, William E. Jr. and Larry, both of Lebanon; two daughters, Elsie Sobar of Lebanon and Linda Hess of Everett; four stepsons, Timothy M. and Gary S. Crosson, both of Duncannon, Randy L. Crosson of Lemoyne and Dana A. Crosson of Mechanicsburg; a stepdaughter, Kerry E. Zeiders of Dauphin; a brother, Henry of Lebanon; a sister, Sarah Lawrence of Louisiana; 13 grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hoover Funeral Home, Millersburg. Burial will be in Long's Cemetery, Halifax. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
