Burial will be by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Sherrill died Sunday morning, Feb. 4, 2007, in Lubbock. He was born Oct. 10, 1925, in Draw to J.E. and Myrtle Porterfield Sherrill, Sr. He married Patsy Clem March 20, 1949, in Tahoka. She died June 20, 2003. He moved to Bovina in 1953 from Tahoka. He owned and operated Sherrill Lumber in Bovina for many years. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Navy.
He was a member of the Bovina United Methodist Church, Farwell Masonic Lodge #977, Lubbock Scottish Rite, Khiva Shrine, American Legion and Bovina Lions Club. He was a former Mayor and City Councilman for the City of Bovina, former member of the Bovina School Board and for the past ten years served as Municipal Judge for the City of Bovina.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Sherrill of Tahoka and Terry Sherrill of Gruver; two daughters, Wendy Curry of Canyon and Patti Brown of Panhandle; two sisters, Bea Brown of San Angelo and Etha Mae Caswell of Carlsbad, N.M.; and two brothers, Ronald Sherrill of Tahoka and Paul Sherrill of O' Donnell. Ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. Family requests memorials to a favorite charity.
