PRESTON – Elaine Nelson Fuhriman, 86, of Preston, Idaho, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at the Sunshine Terrace Rehab. Facility in Logan, Utah. She was born July 31, 1925, in College Ward, Cache County, Utah, to Orville Elias and Esther Theresa Eames Nelson, the fourth child in a family of 10 children. Elaine attended the College Ward Elementary School and Wellsville Junior High where she enjoyed her father as her sixth grade teacher. She then went on to graduate from South Cache High School in 1943.

Elaine first met the love of her life, Rex T. Fuhriman, while at a junior high school dance in Wellsville. They started dating her sophomore year and as Mom said, they "fell madly in love." Rex and Elaine were married Sept. 30, 1944, in Brady, Texas, while Rex was enlisted in the United States Air Force. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on May 31, 1945. They were blessed to spend 66 wonderful years together.

Elaine was always a great support to Rex as they started their life together. She was always grateful for the opportunity that she could stay home to raise her four children. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed cooking for those she loved. Elaine also had a passion for working in her yard where her rose gardens were her pride and joy.

Elaine made many lifelong friendships which she treasured. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various callings in the Primary, Mutual and Relief Society. She was a member of the Logan Golf and Country Club where she served as the Ladies Club president in 1967. Through the years, Rex and Elaine enjoyed many golfing trips with their close friends which became memories they always treasured. Elaine also loved playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs where many good times were had.

Elaine loved her family and she always put them first. She is survived by her four children, Craig (Kathleen) Fuhriman, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Kathy (Don) Williams, of Denver, Colo.; Robert Fuhriman, of Orem, Utah; and Shaunna Fuhriman, of Preston, Idaho; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ione Jasper; sisters-in-law Alice B. Nelson, Marie Olsen, Ranae (Pete) Burningham; a brother-in-law Thomas Geary, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Rex; her brothers, Dale O.
