Cline Fontenot

WASHINGTON - Funeral services for Mr. Cline Fontenot, 76, were held at 10 a.m. today in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church here with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The Revs. Ralph Landry and Nicodemus K. Ampong conducted the services.

Mr. Fontenot, a resident of Port Barre and a native of Branch, died at 10:40 p.m. Monday, September 3, 2001, in Opelousas General Hospital.

He was a farmer and oil field worker. Mr. Fontenot served in the U.S. Navy during the second World War, awarded the Victory Medal. He was a Navy SeaBee and was attached to the 6th Marine Division, Asiatic Pacific Fleet. Mr. Fontenot was
a member of the Knights of Columbus- Washington Council and the Jasper-Neyland American Legion Post in Washington.

Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Frankie Guillory Fontenot of Port Barre; a son, Dwight Fontenot and wife Elaine Guillory Fontenot of Port Barre; three sisters, Mrs. Joyce Williams of Deweyville, Texas, Mrs. Lois Petijean of
Rayne and Mrs. Jeanette Cormier of Alexandria; two brothers, Wallace Fontenot Jr. and Ferdie Fontenot, both of Rayne; and two grandchildren, Ryan Fontenot of Houston, Texas, and Max Fontenot of Port Barre.

Mr. Fontenot was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Fontenot Sr. and Annie Leger Fontenot; and a brother, Winson Fontenot.

Visiting hours were observed from 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. today until time of services. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m.

Sibille Funeral Home, 2309 George Drive, (948-6523), Opelousas, was in charge of arrangements.
