Freeman George Sr. (1780-1836) was Georgetta's grandfather. He is listed amongst Stephen F Austin's Old 300 and died shortly after arriving in Texas; his sons and wife remained and some are listed amongst the "Old 500." Freeman Sr's original land grant stretched from the now Matagorda to Wharton Counties dated July 7, 1824. Georgetta's father, Freeman George Jr. (1815-1865) purchased land in Gonzales County after the Republic of Texas won its independence from Mexico and a succession of moves in that area. He had an estimated net worth of $11,000 as stated in the 1860 Gonzales County Federal Census.

Georgetta was born in 1861 in either Gonzales County or near Old Moulton, Lavaca County. Her mother, Fannie Sargent (Seargeant) moved the family soon after the father's death in 1867. By 1870 her mother was reportedly visiting relatives near Rockdale, Milam County where she died that year. The 1870 Federal Census does not show Georgetta with her brothers in Gonzales, Lavaca, Milam, or Brown Counties. A sister to her mother does appear in Milam County near Rockdale in 1880 as Adeila Pace along with her children. Georgetta and family as well as some of her brothers were settled in Brown County by 1880.

Thankfully, a brother Andrew Lee George wrote several biographical essays, published in the form of pamphlets circa 1885-1920, which give insight to these statements. Also extensive research in the various counties suggest that the mother may have died in LaGrange. As of yet no graves have been found for the mother or father nor proof of where they died.

Georgetta met and married James Jett Green in Bell County on 30 Nov 1874 (source undocumented). She turned 13 years-old that day and gave birth to Sidney the following September (10 months later).

Orphaned and newly married, she and James Jett and her brothers settled in the area around Brownwood, i.e. Thrifty, Byrds Store, Bains and Coleman County. It is unclear whether James Jett Green traveled from Virginia alone or with family or friends. He was reported to have been educated as a Lawyer but the censuses report his occupation as a farmer.

Their children were educated at Howard Payne in Brown County and dispersed soon there after to find their own land and occupations when the Young Territory opened for settlement in West Texas.

She died at the age of 70 from complications after an emergency appendectomy in Temple, Texas (listed as Mrs J.J. Green in the Texas death index).
