Our sweet, devoted mother, Caralyn Hanson Lyman, passed from this mortal life on October 15, 2011 surrounded by her family.

Caralyn was born in Wellington, Utah on September 19, 1934 to Carl Andrew Hanson and Rosalie Murl Shorts. She was the oldest of seven children.

She graduated from Carbon County High School in 1952 and shortly thereafter moved to Salt Lake where she met her eternal companion, O. Gordon Lyman. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 28, 1957, and were later blessed with six wonderful children.

Caralyn loved her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. She was a devoted, loving mother and wife, and she developed and shared her many talents most often in these roles.

When times were tough she plied her accounting skills in the workforce to help provide for her family. She left her children a legacy of wise counsel, faith, humor, unconditional love, and service.

In her final months of life she was a constant and loving caregiver to her husband prior to his passing in July 2011. Caralyn was a loyal and trusted friend to many and she deeply cherished her friendships.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and blessed the lives of many through her service in numerous Church callings.

Over the past several years, she spent countless hours doing family history work and completed the extraction of over 160,000 names.

Mom, your challenges were many, your wants were few, and your rewards are eternal. You have our unfailing gratitude and love.

Caralyn is preceded in death by her husband, O. Gordon Lyman. She is survived by her six children, David, Susan Grant (Bruce), Michelle DePrizio (Ray), Shaun (Natalie), Christian (Sonara), and Aaron (Heather); and her beloved grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and siblings, Lorraine, Arline, Kay, Linda, Brent, and Jae Dean.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in the Salt Lake Thirty-First Ward Chapel, 1078 McClelland Street, Salt Lake City, UT. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East), East Millcreek, UT, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and in the ward building from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the funeral services.
