Alma Alexandra Holland, of Oswego, the daughter of the late Frank and Alma Joyce, passed away October 15, 2011. Born and raised in the Irish Flats, she graduated from St. Mary's and Oswego High School and attended Oswego State. Alma worked as a medical lab technician at Oswego Hospital, as well as wife and mother. Extremely well-read, she never stopped her quest to learn. She was a great lover of history and philosophy, which she made a life study. She was married to Joe Holland for 56 years, the love of her life. She possessed a very sharp wit and outrageous sense of humor. She was a devoted animal lover her entire life. She was deeply loved by her family. Surviving are a daughter, Marie (Ron) Schadt, and a son, Sean (Robin Russo) Holland, both of town of Oswego, and her beloved granddaughters, Amanda Schadt and Danielle Holland. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph, and a brother, George Joyce. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St., Oswego. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oswego County Humane Society, 265 West First St., Oswego.
