"God would not be a God of love if He made human hearts hungry for love, and then had no supply.

And so as we blessed Easter tide comes rolling in once more; as the gently breezes and warm sunshine of glowing spring time call all nature to a radiant resurrection - the soul of Mary Elizabeth Stevenson Engle, had taken its flight.

She was the daughter of Nathan and Ellinor Neal Thornburgh, who lived at her birth, Nov. 8, 1846, on a farm north of Bloomingsport, where she grew to womanhood under the care and admonition of Christian parents. Early in life she united with the United Brethren Church of Bloomingsport and remained a member as long as that organization existed.

She was united in marriage to William Stevenson on 14 February 1863. Two children were born of this union. Charlotte, who became the wife of Edward L. Johnson and John Earl, who survives his mother. Husband passed away in 1885. Daughter Charlotte Johnson, died May 17, 1889 leaving husband and one daughter. Soon after her death, young father, and husband passed away, leaving Mary Maude
to care for her grandmothers, who cared for her as her own.

The last of her father's family ---her days and months and years of suffering are ended. Thru it all she often expressed her faith in Jesus and her desire to be with who had passed on. She passed away April 1, 1927, aged 80 years, 4 months 23 days. She leaves her son Earl, six grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, who will greatly miss her from her home.
