Susanna was the daughter of HARMON GREATHOUSE and MARY STULL.

Harmon was born circa 1717, at Germantown, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, died between October 12, 1794 and October 1795, at Westminister, Carroll County, Maryland, the son of Henrick Groethausen and Ann Puppin.

MARY STULL was born circa 1727, in Pennsylvania or Maryland, died between October 8, 1793 and October 12, 1794, at Westminister, Carroll County, Maryland, the daughter of John Stull and Martha [Jones?]).

There are several documents between 1786-1788 showing Harmon and Mary transferring and selling their properties in (West) Virginia to their sons (et al), with the stated intent to return to Maryland, where Harmon is listed in the 1790 Federal Census, and church records from 1788-1795. Both are listed as members of their Church on October 8, 1793. Harmon is listed as a widower in the membership list of October 12, 1794. He is missing in the list of October 1795. Both are buried in the Krider's Lutheran Church Cemetery, at Westminister, Carroll County, Maryland.

Susanna was married on February 24, 1780, in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, to Van Swearingen. They migrated to Kentucky and settled in Shelby County. They were the parents of ten children.
