Funeral services were held in the Divide Methodist church Friday for Mrs. Alice Sistrunk Calhoun, member of a well known Lawrence county family and widow of the late John Calhoun.
Dr. A. L. Gatewood, pastor of the First Baptist church in Columbia conducted the services. Mrs. Calhoun was buried in the Divide church cemetery. She was eighty-one years old.
Mrs. Calhoun lived for many years in the southern part of the community. Since December 14 of last year when she was injured in a fall she had been bedridden and died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed Pierce, in Columbia.
She leaves five sons: Clyde Calhoun, Siminole, Okla,; Watson Calhoun, Pondaosa, Calif; Jack Calhoun, Pascagoula; J. P. Calhoun, Natchez and Martin Calhoun of Columbia, and three daughters, Mrs. Ed Pierce, Columbia; Mrs. C. O. Stevens, Hattiesburg and Mrs. C. R. Blackledge of Pondosa, Calif.
Among those from Monticello attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Roberts and family and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Nelson
