Kitturah McFarland, a native of Ohio, was married September 21, 1829 to Nathaniel Fox (1805-1887). Nathaniel was a native of Virginia. The couple lived in Ohio until the late 1830s, when they went west and moved into Iowa Territory, between 1837 and 1839. They settled on a farm in New London Township of Henry County.

Their family consisted of ten children, five boys, and five girls, the first four (James, John, William, and Elizabeth) having been born before the move from Ohio, and the last six (Sarah, Delilah, Charles, Thomas, Maria, and Ruth) in Iowa.

Firstborn son, James M. Fox died at age 2. Daughter Sarah Ann died in 1851 at age 11. The other children grew to adulthood. The life paths of several of them are not known after they became adults.

John McFarland Fox (1833-1895) married a woman named Lavina, and they settled in Ringgold County, Iowa. They had at least two children.

William H. Fox was last on an 1860 federal census in New London, Iowa, at age 24.

Elizabeth McFarland Fox (1837-1919) married fellow Ohioan turned Iowan, Truman D. Sampson (1831-1921), had several children born in Iowa, and later moved west to Nebraska, where their family eventually numbered seven.

Delilah Fox (1842-1865) married William Coleman (1837-1915) in 1860, and died about five years later, no children in the family. William remarried to Rachel "Jane" Brown (1847-1931) lived in Nebraska, and named his firstborn daughter Delilah.

Charles McC. Fox, born 1844, was last known to be in Chouteau County, Montana, in 1880, boarding with a farm family.

Thomas "Tom" Fox (1846-1899) married Isadora C. "Dora" Anderson (1850 - after 1920) in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, in 1868. They moved to Ringgold County, Iowa, were the parents of eight known children.

Maria R. Fox, born in 1848, married George William McCulley (McCollough) in 1871. The left Iowa and went east to Ohio by 1880, had two known children, both sons.

Ruth Ellen Fox (1851-1889) was married to Charles Pearsey Walker (1843-1922) on July 4, 1868, in Mt. Pleasant. She suffered from tuberculosis, which eventually brought her demise. They had eight children, six sons and two daughters. They first lived near New London, Iowa, went to Texas for several years, but returned soon to Iowa, where they settled in Louisa County, Iowa, on land potentially originally purchased by Charles's uncle, William Pearsey (1802-1856).

After Kitturah's death, her husband, Nathaniel, moved to Nebraska to live with his daughter, Elizabeth Sampson. He died and was buried in Nebraska.
