Lena L. (Savage) Beaudoin, 84, of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Thursday, October 13, 2011. She passed into Eternal Life from Wingate at South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home on Percy Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, a beloved daughter of the late Frank and Lena (Champagne) Savage. She was raised in Chicopee during her early years and graduated from Saint Joan of Arc Elementary School. Her family then moved to Holyoke where she graduated from Holyoke High School. Lena and her husband, Ernest lived in Floral City, Florida for 10 years before moving back to Chicopee around 1996. Lena enjoyed being a homemaker for her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Ernest A. Beaudoin. They were married on November 27, 1947 at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and would have celebrated 64 years together on November 27, 2011. She also leaves: her five loving children, Raymond Beaudoin and his partner, Beverly Loftus, Elizabeth Theroux, Ellen Rudert and her husband, Alan, Ernest Beaudoin and his partner, Melissa Hamre, and Laura Gagnon and her husband, Michael, all of Chicopee; her 11 cherished grandchildren, Raymond and Matthew, Denise, Jennifer and Daniel, Melissa and Sarah, James and "Lil" Ernie and Jessica and Alicia; her 16 cherished great grandchildren; her dear brother and sister, Arthur Savage and Helen Swierad, both of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving son-in-law, Dennis A. Theroux, who was Called Home on June 10, 2011 and by her dear sisters, Regina Pasterczyk and Alice Gourde. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, October 17, 2011, beginning at the St. Pierre Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home in the Rose Chapel on Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Sainte Rose de Lima Church Organ Fund, 15 Chapel Street, Chicopee, MA 01020
