Suddenly on June 10, 2008, KAY HARRIS LIGON of El Cerrito, CA passed away at the age of 92. Her death occurred while on a shopping trip with her husband Charles Hartshorne Ligon. (He died the next day.)

Born May 26, 1916 in Sandy Spring, Maryland, she later graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Throughout her life, she was active in many types of sports. An avid golfer and bowler, she was a longtime Member of Mira Vista Country Club and was often seen carrying her own clubs, even playing nine holes on the morning of her death.

She and her first husband Jack moved to El Cerrito in 1949 with their two daughters Gail and June. A third daughter, Carol, was born in 1951.

After the premature death of Jack in March 1969, she married Mel Harris in 1971. He passed away in 1988. In 1998 she married Charles Ligon, who was recently widowed from his first wife. Kay and Charles had been acquainted since kindergarten but had gone their separate ways until reconnecting many years later.

Kay was an active member of Arlington Community Church for 57 years, were she served as Clerk of the Church, a member of the Board of Trustees and a member of the Church Council. She was a regular volunteer at the Greater Richmond Interfaith Program, a program to feed the Homeless. An avid gardener, she kept a beautiful yard and shared her knowledge, energy and flowers with the church, the Country Club and many friends.

Predeceased by her parents Dawson and Lucy Trundle, 1st husband Jack Fleming, 2nd husband Mel Harris, daughter Gail Fleming, and twin sisters Lucy and Lula Trundle, she is survived by brother Jim Trundle (Martha) of New Jersey, daughters June Lacy of Watsonville, CA, Carol Sisk (Ken) of Santa Cruz, CA, grandsons Aaron and Trevor Sisk, niece Jackie Fonken (Roger) of Richmond, CA and many other nieces and nephews through out the U.S.

A Memorial Service for her and her husband Chick will be held at Sandy Spring Friends Meeting, Meeting House Road, Sandy Spring, MD at a date to be announced.
