ROY DARBY DIES WEDNESDAY EVE
Former Decatur County Farmer Succumbs at Farm home Near New Castle
Roy W. Darby, 66, for many years a well-known Decatur county farmer, passed away at his farm home at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after an illness of several weeks.
For many years Mr. Darby operated the Abigail Brown farm, 7 miles northwest of Greensburg. In 1927 he purchased the Margaret Mohler farm in Henry county where he had since lived.
Roy Darby was the son of James and Irene (Peterson) Darby and was born in Adams. For almost 50 years he lived in the Adams community. he was a member of the Adams I.O.O.F. lodge.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Inez Darby; two sons, Ernest Darby of Mooreland and Basil Darby of R.R.1, New Castle; a daughter, Mrs. Will Gorman of New Castle R.R.5; nine grandchildren. Two brothers, Otis and Mills, are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Davis funeral home at New Castle. Burial will be in Mt. Summit cemetery.
