On Thursday, around 7:30am, a van driven by a sheriff's deputy, Howard Mitchell, 57, who ran a group home for adopted and foster children collided with an empty cattle trailer on Thursday in a highway construction zone, killing him and five children and injuring seven other children.

The five children are:
Austyn Atkinson, 11
Tony Mitchell, 10
Tayla Mitchell, 10
Andy Dawson, 13
Jeremy Franks, 17

The ages of the hospitalized children were 3, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 17, officials said. The 14-year-old, who suffered minor injuries, was the only one in the van wearing a seat belt, although the 3-year-old was properly restrained in a child seat, troopers said.

There was one obituary for all involved, at Brown Funeral Homes. The following is the piece for Tony

Tony Mitchell was a pure, honest soul who wanted nothing more in the world than to be loved and show you LOTS of love in return. Constantly getting in trouble for being an "over-lover" Tony never knew a stranger and hugged everyone he met. His smile stretched ear to ear and was infectious, even after he knocked out all of his front teeth! A lover to the core Tony even tried (and was half way successful) at sneaking his beloved chickens into his private shower on an especially cold night.
