Emma S. Caligari is the daughter of Swiss-Italian born James and Augustina Caligari. She is the fourth of six children: Mathew, Ulysses, Ida, Emma, Erminio and Peter Caligari. The extended Caligari family were dairy farmers and all of Emma’s siblings were born in or around Guadalupe. Emma married Charles H. Stephens of Ontario, Canada on July 30, 1902 in Guadalupe, California. Emma died three years after moving to Ontario, Canada with her husband, but came home to the Caligari family resting place in Guadalupe. Emma and Charles had one child, a daughter, Emalyn Stephens (Davis) in 1903 in Canada, who eventually moved back to California.
