She was one of eight children. In 1845, her widowed mother married Rev. Samuel Wire, a Freewill Baptist minister in that part of New York, and about 1860 they removed to Oakland Co. Michigan, to a pioneer town of Wixom where they died. Most of Fanny's siblings went west also.
