Popular Couple to Live On Farm Near That Place
The marriage of Miss Edith Lavinia Hamner and Robert Lee Hargrove was solemnized Wednesday night at 7:30 at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Nannie Hamner in Effingham. Rev. Murphy of Effingham performed the marriage ceremony in the presence of sixty immediate relatives and close friends of the bridal couple.
While Miss Florence Hamner, cousin of the bride, played the Mendelssohn wedding march, the bridal couple, attended by Miss Elsie Hargrove, sister of the groom, and John Murray, advanced into the living room, where their marriage vows were made. The bride wore a beautiful gown of shadow lace, over white silk, and carried a bride's bouquet of white roses, The bridesmaid was becomingly attired in yellow crep-de-chene. The Hamner home was decorated in evergreen, ferns and cut flowers. After a 2-course wedding luncheon was served, the bridal couple left for a short wedding trip. The bride's going away suit was of tan wool serge, with a crepe-de-chene blouse and hat to match. They will be at home after April 15 on a farm owned by the groom's father, one mile east of Effingham.
The bride is very well known in Effingham where she has lived for several years. She is a graduate of the music department of the the A. C. H. S. and for the past two years has been attestant postmistress. She is an admirable young woman in every respect and has many friends in Effingham. The groom belongs to one of the best known families in the vicinity of Effingham and is young man of sterling qualities.

Robert L, “ Chub” Hargrove, TI, died yesterday at the Atchison hospital. He lived in Effingham until moving to Atchison eight years ago. Funeral services will beheld at 2:30 p .m, Saturday at the Effingham Christian church, the Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Effingham cemetery,

Mr. Hargrove was born on a farm near Effingham Oct. 3, 1892 (sic - year of birth engraved 1893 on tombstone). He was a farmer for many years and later operated a grocery store 14 years before moving to Atchison. He and the former Lavinia Hamner were married April 12, 1914 (sic April 1, 1914). She died April 5, 1957.
Surviving are a son, Bobby Dick Hargrove, Effingham; a daughter, Mrs. Roy Freeland, Topeka; two brothers. Brown and Charlie Hargrove, both of Effingham; two sisters , Mrs. Carl (Bessie) Snyder, Osborn, and Mrs. J.R . (Geneva) Snyder, Effingham, and four grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Elsie Murray, died previously.
Glen, Bill, Dick and Max Hargrove, Edmund Stucker and Kenneth Wohlgemuth, all nephews, will be pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 p.m . Friday at the Stutz-Shifflett funeral home in Effingham.
