Frances I. Bond, 85, of Canby, died Aug. 12, 2011 at Marquis Care at Hope Village in Canby.

Born April 19, 1926, on a farm on the Pudding River near Woodburn to Amos and Sarah Roth, she attended Union School near Woodburn through the eighth grade.

She married George Bond on Oct. 28, 1945 at Zion Mennonite Church.

She was a homemaker and farmer's wife, raising her five children. She enjoyed being active in her church, crocheting, baking, canning, and gardening.

She was a member of Zion Mennonite Church, Calvary Mennonite Church, Warden Mennonite Church, and a member of the Women's Missionary Society at Calvary Mennonite Church.

She is survived by her children, Dwight Bond of Oregon City, Diane Garber of Dayton, Wash., Donita Harguess of Salem, Delene (Dee) Simpson of Canby and Georgia Sams of LaGrande; sisters, Freda Schmidt of Towner, Colo., Fern Nice of Albany; brother, Oscar Roth of Goshen, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 18, at Zion Mennonite Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
