Mildred A. Carter was born on January 15, 1922, at Nampa, Idaho and died Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the age of 89.

She was the youngest of eight children born to Earl Reynolds Rankin and Ethel Carrie Grier; she grew up in Boise, and graduated from Boise High School in 1940. After graduation she worked for Morrison Knudsen as a switchboard operator.

Mildred married the love of her life, Robert Louis Carter on December 16, 1944 upon his return from serving in the Pacific during WWII. They spent their 66 years of marriage filled with the enjoyment of dancing, fishing, bowling, and traveling as well as wonderful times with family and friends.

Mildred was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 65 and served as Worthy Matron. She was a cook in the Boise Public Schools until retirement in 1974.

After retirement, she and Bob moved up on the Little Salmon River for several years then moved back to Boise. They began traveling the United States and after many years settled into a Snowbird life of Boise in the summer and Arizona in the winter.

She was preceded in death by her dancing partner in May, 2011.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Cloverdale Funeral Home,Boise. Interment will follow at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens, Meridian.
