The Canton Press-News, Canton, MO, Thursday, May 8, 1930, pg 5:
On One Farm 80 Years --- Jerry Lillard Was Born In Lewis County. At his home just east of Williamstown Sunday evening occurred the death of Jerry Lillard who was nearly 80 years old. A funeral service was held for him at the nearby Providence Baptist church Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. F. O. Saunders in charge. The 800-acre farm on which Mr. Lillard died was the one on which he was born -- had lived a long life on a single farm. His father entered the land in 1832, and all his life he had been averse to any of it passing out of Lillard hands. Mr. Lillard was the eleventh child in a family of twelve children and was the eleventh child of the family to die. One brother, a resident of California, survives him. Mr. Lillard made a home for a sister and her two children. He was a strong personality, possessed of a memory that was unusually retentive. He was the soul of honor but had many eccentricities. Mr. Lillard was a remote cousin of the older members of the Canton branch of the Lillard family."
