Estherville – Services for Mrs. Barney (Beulah) Hassel, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Calvary Gospel Assembly Church with Pastor David Ogren officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Monday, May 11, 1987 at Holy Family Hospital. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Beulah Beatrice Baker was born Jan. 28, 1907 at Harvey, the daughter of John and Sylvia (Cox) Baker. She attended country schools in the Harvey area. She moved to the Estherville area as a young woman and has lived here since. On Aug. 30, 1941 she was married to Barney Hassel at Estherville. She worked as a real estate salesperson, also did selling for various companies. She was a member of Calvary Gospel Assembly and Women Aglow.

Survivors include two sons: Charles Hassel and wife Linda, Washington and James Hassel and wife Marie, Crawfordsville, Ind.; four grandchildren: Jeff, Chris, Michelle and Eric Hassel; her mother Sylvia Baker, Estherville; two brothers Charles Baker, Estherville and Lloyd Baker, Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Tony (Dorothy) Rhen, Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her husband Oct. 10, 1980; one brother and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 13, 1987)
