Estherville – Services for Mrs. Sylvia C. Baker, 104, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David L. Meyer, interim pastor of Calvary Gospel Assembly Church, officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Monday, July 20, 1987 at Good Samaritan Center, Estherville, where she had been a resident.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel 3-9 p.m. Wednesday.

She was born June 4, 1883 at Harvey, the daughter of Snowden and Susan (Beasley) Cox, and attended the Harvey schools. On June 22, 1902 she was united in marriage with John F. Baker at Harvey. The family moved to Estherville in 1932. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons: Loyd and wife Irene, Des Moines and Charles and wife Thelma, Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Tony (Dorothy) Rhen, Estherville; 19 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Sept. 30, 1963; one son; three daughters; one granddaughter, one brother; and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 21, 1987)
