He was born March 28, 1917 in Montpelier, Idaho to John and Rosina Grosjean Knutti, the fourth of seven children. Eddie married and was sealed to the love of his life Calpurnia Dabel in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple on July 7, 1944. Together they raised five daughters.
Eddie will be remembered as a kind-hearted, gentle man who loved and served others. He especially loved little children and they always loved him.
He started in the grocery business as a teenager in Montpelier, Idaho. From 1941 to 1945 he served in the Army during World War II stationed in the South Pacific. He returned to working for Zions Wholesale Grocery in Pocatello and then moved to Don Elggren Brokerage Co. in Salt Lake.
All his life he was an avid fisherman and made sure his girls knew how to fish and bait a hook.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in many callings including Bishop in Pocatello, Idaho 27th Ward and Salt Lake 11th Ward, a counselor in the stake presidency in Rose Park and a Salt Lake Temple worker. He went on a microfilming mission with his wife in 1976-77 in Illinois and Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife, children, daughters, Rhonda (Dick) Buehler, Karen (Mike) Berry, Nola (Dar) Peterson, Ann (Don) Reynolds, Jill (Richard) McDonald, 22 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and sister Alice Morris of Pocatello, Idaho.
Preceded in death by siblings: Frank, George, Kathryn, Millie and Helen; as well as his mother and father.
A heartfelt "thank you" from the family goes out to the staff of Uintah Care Center and Good Shepherd Home Health for their support and loving care.
Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 1 pm in the Vernal LDS 2nd Ward, located at 235 E. 600 South. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at Maeser Cemetery under direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
Military honors presented by the American Legion Post #11 and #124 and the Utah National Guard.
